Standard Material Yield Specs:
- Standard Brick Sizing: Standard UK/Irish bricks are 215mm (L) × 102.5mm (W) × 65mm (H) with 10mm mortar joint, requiring approx. 60 bricks per m² for single skin stretcher bond.
- Mortar Mix Ratios: Standard masonry brickwork uses a 1:5 ratio (1 part Cement to 5 parts Sand by volume). Heavy duty external walls use 1:4.
- Dry to Wet Volume Expansion: Mortar dry mix contracts when mixed with water. Dry mortar required is typically calculated at 1.33 to 1.54 times the net wet volume.
- Wastage Allowance: 5% to 10% is standard to account for brick cuts, corner overlaps, and mortar loss during laying.
