Standard Paving Sand Specs:
- Bedding Sand: Always use sharp sand (also called coarse grit sand) for slab bedding. Do not use soft building sand as it compresses excessively.
- Sand Density: Coarse sharp sand weighs approximately 1,600kg to 1,650kg per cubic metre when uncompacted.
- Jointing Sand: Use kiln-dried silica sand brushed into slab joints after laying. 1 x 20kg bag typically covers 15 m² of standard block paving or paving flags.
